English and My First Language

The French and the English are two different languages, but they are a bit similar. Firstly, in the French language, sometimes we use some English words. For example, we use “hot” and “cool” to describe a situation that we liked. “It was so cool!” or “That’s hot.” Secondly, in the English language we use some French word like “petite”. We can use that word to describe someone. “She’s petite.” This is means that the person is very small and thin. Thirdly, in English there are some words that we use in French too and they are the same meaning. For example, “situation”, “differences”, “general”, etc. On the other hand, French is less easy than English to learn because in the French language we have different verb tenses. Also, in English we don’t pronounce the sound “r”, but in French we do it. In English there are no feminine and masculine, but in French we have it. So, when an English person learns French, he doesn’t make a difference with “le” or “la” and “un” or “une”.

ESL vs. EFL

There are many way to learn English. ESL and EFL are good programs to do it. There are some differences and similarities between these two programs. First of all, these programs are based on English. For example, you take ESL or EFL to learn a new language and to become bilingual. In the other hand, EFL is easier than ESL because if you don’t understand something, you can talk in your first language to be understood, but in the ESL program you can’t because there are so many different languages. Also, the ESL program is faster to learn English because you are obligate to speak in this other language. For example, if you want to speak with someone in your class yon don’t have many choices to be understood: you speak English. To finish, sometimes, at the end of the programs, the results are the same because you are bilingual, but ESL is a better way to learn because you live in an English city so, you are forced to speak this language. As long as EFL, you are not forcing to speak English, because you can speak your first language and everybody is going to understand you. So, in both situations, you can be bilingual perfect, but it depends on you and how bilingual would you like to be.

After Canadore...

After Canadore College, I'm going to my hometown to study "Human Sciences" in Cegep. I will study that for two years and when I will finish, I am going to the University and I would like to study in psychology to become a psychologist.I hesitate between going in a French University or an English one. If I'm going in a French University, I would like to go to Laval University at Quebec, on the other hand if I'm going into an English one, I would like to go to Concordia University at Montreal. I would like to go to an English University because I don't want to lose my English after this year, because speaking English is very important for me. After, when I will finish school, I think that I'm going to move in Ontario, but I'm not sure yet.

The Oven

Oh my god, the first time I used the oven was so embarrassing. I put some potatoes in the oven and when they were baked, I took my potatoes and I ate them. A few minutes later, one of my roommate said that it smells the smoke. I said no, and she said ok. After a while, the smoke alarm rang. Nobody knows what happened and tried to shout that thing. Even my neighbors came to stop this machine. When the smoke alarm stopped all my roommates asked me what happened and I said that I forgot to turn off the oven. That was the most embarrassing moment in my life. Some weeks later I used the oven and when I finished with it the smoke alarm was ringing, again. I heard one of my roommate says “Really?!?” It was so funny. Each time I use the oven some of my roommates ask me if I turned it off. It is so funny when we think about it. It’s embarrassing but it is really funny.

October 20, 2010

The  evening of the October 20 was so funny. I locked my roommate outside because she knocked at my window. I was laughing at her. I know that she deserved it because she scared me a little bit. I should have let her outside longer because it was so funny. That evening it was cold  outside and she was wearing a t-shirt. I wish she was cold. She texted Cindy, another roommate, and she says if she can unlock the door because she was locked outside. I was rolling on the ground as it was so funny. When I opened the door she looked at me like she wanted to kill me, but I laughed at her and she began to laugh too. It was a good evening. I had a lot of fun.

Canadore

Canadore College is the best school that I went. I like the classes, the teachers are dynamics and my classmates are very funny. I met a lot of new people. Our classes are very rewarding and fun because we do a lot of different things and different projects. Moreover, I have a good relashion with my roommates. When the program will be done I hope that I will keep in touch will all the friends that I make here. If I had to do it again, I'm sure that I will do it because until now, it is the best choice that I have make.

Volleyball

When I was in high school I played volleyball for two years. I began to play in secondary three and I ended at the end on secondary four. I really liked that. I stoped to play volleyball in secondary five because I did not have time to practice that. I was in the International program and I already played tennis. I did not have life anymore, thus if I would have continued to play, I would not have had of time for me. So, I did not have time anymore to dedicate to volleyball. I had a choice to make : Tennis or Volleyball. The choice was hard because I liked these sports, but I prefered tennis to the volleyball. If I have been able, I would have continued because that was a sport that I liked to practice.
